Background

Nooks

Nooks is a cloud-based sales dialer designed to optimize live conversations and minimize the time spent on less productive tasks like voicemail drops and hangups. Key features include rate limits for controlled calling pace, local presence dialing, CRM integration with popular platforms, and a voicemail drop function. Nooks aims to empower sales teams with tools that enhance efficiency and contribute to overall sales success.

Orum

Orum is a cloud-based sales dialer with a strong focus on optimizing live conversations while minimizing time spent leaving voicemails and hangups frequently encountered by sales development teams. Their platform harnesses the power of AI to streamline the manual calling process, however, AI is not utilized in their voicemail drops. Orum also offers reporting features for sales teams and managers.

Nooks and Orum are a new generation of sales productivity tools for sales representatives, providing more options for BDRs and SDRs. Compared to the previous generation of auto dialers such as MonsterConnect and ConnectAndSell, Orum and Nooks have added a live salesfloor, which allows reps to collaborate and dial together.

What to consider when choosing a sales dialer

When selecting a sales dialer for your business, it's vital to consider several key factors to make an informed decision.

  • Compatibility with your existing CRM or lead management system is paramount to ensure seamless integration.
  • Automation capabilities such as automatic dialing, voicemail drop, and call scripting features that align with your team's specific needs.
  • Reporting and analytics capabilities to effectively track performance and optimize your sales strategies.

By diligently assessing these factors, you can select a sales dialer that enhances your team's efficiency and contributes to your overall sales success.

Rate Limits

Rate limits are typically used to prevent duplicate dials and to control the pace at which calls are made to ensure efficient and effective outreach. These limits help manage call volumes, minimize disruptions, and maintain a smooth workflow for sales and business development teams.

Nooks

Nooks offers flexible rate limits, allowing users to control the pace of their calling activities. This feature ensures that users can reach out to the right prospects the appropriate number of times, striking a balance between persistence and respect for prospects' time and preferences.

Orum

Orum does not have set rate limits. This may present some challenges in maintaining professionalism and customer satisfaction. Without predefined restrictions on call frequencies, there is a possibility that the same individual may be contacted multiple times within a single day or even consecutively across days.

Call Latency

Call latency refers to the delay or lag experienced in establishing a connection or hearing a response during a phone call.

Some vendors have been known to experience 2-4 second call latency. This delay can lead to inefficiencies in communication, hinder the flow of meaningful conversations, and potentially create a less-than-ideal experience for both sales representatives and prospects.

When measuring call latency, it is also worth testing your vendor at different times of the day (when traffic may be busier or slower), and from different locations.

Local Presence

Local presence dialing is a technique that allows sales teams to display a local phone number on the recipient's caller ID, making it more likely that the call will be answered.

Nooks

Nooks does not appear to support local presence at this time. Nooks can generate a phone number with an area code that aligns with the user's location. This strategic use of local presence can boost the likelihood of call pickup, fostering more meaningful connections in the sales outreach process.

Orum

Orum does not appear to support local presence at this time. Orum provides users with the flexibility to select ten phone numbers per month from any desired area code, with the option to rotate them on a monthly basis. For access to an extra fifteen numbers within each area code, an additional charge may apply. Users are required to manually switch between their local presence numbers.

CRM Integration

Nooks

Nooks integrates with a suite of essential tools, including Outreach, HubSpot, SalesLoft, and Apollo. This integration ensures a smooth and unified workflow, allowing users to leverage the power of Nooks within their existing tech stack for enhanced efficiency and productivity in sales processes.

Orum

Orum's software offers integrations with a select set of five platforms: Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft, and Gong. If you wish to leverage data from a different CRM or application, the process involves exporting your contact list manually as a .csv file and subsequently uploading it directly to Orum.

Orum recently announced their integration with Apollo.

Voicemail Features

Nooks

Voicemail drop functionality in Nooks is available in their Catalyst plan, offering users the convenience of pre-recorded voicemails. However, it's essential to note that this pre-recorded feature limits the extent of personalization, impacting the ability to tailor voicemails to specific prospects. Users should consider their personalization needs when opting for this plan.

Orum

Orum allows reps to automatically drop pre-recorded voicemails while power or parallel dialing. While AI is not utilized here, reps can pre-record voicemail messages directly within the Orum platform to utilize for campaigns. However, they cannot personalize the message from one prospect to the next by referencing prior interactions specific to this prospect.

Power Dialer

Nooks

Nooks' Power Dialer allows users to dial up to five numbers simultaneously, streamlining outbound calling. This tool enhances productivity and contributes to better outcomes in outbound calling campaigns.

Orum

Orum's Power Dialer

Orum provides businesses with two options: a power dialer and an auto dialer. The power dialer calls one number at a time, whereas Orum's auto dialer, also known as a parallel dialer, can simultaneously call up to ten numbers.

Virtual Salesfloor

Nooks

Nooks’ virtual salesfloor offers both audio and video features. This multifaceted functionality not only fosters seamless team collaboration but also provides managers with valuable tools for real-time coaching. The inclusion of audio and video elements enhances the overall effectiveness of the salesfloor, creating an environment conducive to enhanced communication, learning, and team performance.

Orum

Orum's virtual salesfloor offers an audio-only environment for hosting call blitzes with your team. Here, you can tune in to live calls, gain insights, and learn from your peers. The Salesfloor facilitates real-time interactions and feedback, helping you sharpen your skills and excel in your sales efforts.

Cost and Pricing

Nooks and Orum do not publicly list their pricing. In general, most sales productivity software price on a per-seat basis, with monthly or annual contracts. As a reference, Dialpad, a competitor which does list public sales pricing, posts prices of $95-170 per user per month.

Conclusion

In summary, your choice between Nooks and Orum boils down to the specific needs and preferences of your sales team.

Nooks offers a more customizable and feature-rich solution, particularly for those who prioritize control over their calling pace, seamless integration, and enhanced voicemail personalization.

On the other hand, Orum, with a simpler approach and a focus on immediate connections, might be more suitable for teams with a tighter budget or those who prefer a no-frills solution.

For a low-latency (instant call pairing) alternative to Orum and Nooks that can also provide personalized, generative AI-powered voicemails, consider Bearworks.
